From the historic house of Valdespino. Be adventurous and whet your appetite with a half-bottle of either
Manzanilla Delicosa
5 to 7 years old, this is a pale lustorous green, eminently refreshing, and finishes on a classic, upbeat, salty note.
or
Fino Inocente
8 to 10 years old, and made from the grapes of a single vineyard, this is a crisper and more fragrant.

Still by far the best medium-dry white made in Spain, this delightful Muscat/Gewurztraminer blend is fresh and exuberantly grapey.
Con Class Sauvignon Blanc 2006/7 (Rueda) £16.95
Young dynamo Richard Sanz gives Chile and much of the Loire a serious run for their money with this fine, highly aromatic and flinty offering made from this family'd 25 year old vines.
Navajas Blanco Crianza 2004/5 (Rioja) £17.95
Once describes as 'full throttle traditional white Rioja', this elegant greeny-gold wine has delicate lemony pineapple core fused with vanilla oak overtones. Partner with fish or shellfish to best appreciate and trigger its subtleties!
Muga Blanco 2006/7 (Rioja) £18.95
Another Spanish benchmark, with its admirably spare, nutty flavour, pervasive spicy and incisively flinty character; this is for those who enjoy uncompromisingly dry white wine along crisp Burgundian lines.
Txomin Etxaniz 2006/7 (Chacoli de Guetaria) £19.95
Word has spread to the point that even US wine guru Robert Parker is excited: 'Although these Basque names are challenging to pronounce, this blend of 75% Hondarribi Zuri and 25% Hondarribi Beltza is an excellent white; it offers crisp, elegant, lemon/lime, grapefruit, and wet rock-like notes, excellent texture, medium body, and a dry, zesty finish.'
PS - Do not be alarmed, it is meant to be slightly fizzy.
Pali Riesling 2006/7 (Bio Bio Valley - Chile) £19.95
Made by top Chilean oenologist Alvaro Espinoza in tiny quantities, we are pleased to have a fine, new discovery on our list. Delicate and highly aromatic, with pronounced line zest notes, this splendid varietal also manages (somehow!) to be bone dry and has great acidity. Will appeal, like Muga, to classical palates.
Insurrieta Rosado 2006/7 (Navarra) £14.95
A favourite even in Dubai, its vibrantly fused rose-petal and red berry flavours not just withstand but actively compliment even the spiciest Arabic dishes!
Navajas Rosado Crianza 2003/5 (Rioja) £17.95
A real surprise: dry but gently red cherry fruit is complimented by a delicate overlay of vanilla oak and hints of herbs. Delicious!
Gran Gesta Brut NV (Penedes) £16.50
Clean, simple and refreshing: dry but not too dry.
Parxet Brut Reserva NV (Alella) £24.50
A drier, more austerre style with more bottle age from one of Catalonia's most prestigious cellars.

Great, middle-weight fizz from a small family producer. Lemony, yeasty, with pleasing depth, and that refreshing acidity that sets Champagne quite apart.

Easy drinking with silky smooth primary red and black fruit flavours and a pleasing spicy, peppery finish.

La Copa Tempranillo 2005/6 (Campo de Borja) £13.95
This bright, lively red-scented wine has had some deservedly excellent press in the UK this year - in particular from The Guardian and The Spectator, both of whom sung the praises of 'modern regional Spain coming of age'.
Inurrieta Norte 2004/5 (Navarra) £15.50
Dark, fragrant, French-oaked blackberry and blueberry scented Cabernet/Merlot. Elegant and intense.
Blason de San Juan Roble (Ribera del Duero) 2004/5 £17.95
Pure, fresh, low-yield, floral, strawberry scented Tinto Fino with just a touch of oak. From a lovely old estate near Roa revitalized by irrepressible new owner Jose Manuel Ortega Fournier.
Navajas Tinto Crianza 2004/5 (Rioja) £18.95
Following the delicate and quick maturing 2003, the 2004 vintage was an absolute classic not just in Rioja but all over Spain. This is accordingly rather darker than its predecessor with more elegance, vigour, and bite - its lively black plum and cherry fruit flavours balanced, as ever, by fragrant high toast American oak overtones.
Navajas Tinto Reserva 2001/2 (Rioja) £20.95
Antonio Navajas' Reserva is lush, round and pleasingly substantial with oodles of dark tasty fruit, plenty of his usual toasty American oak, and a finish to die for. The venerable, relatively austere 2001 is now sadly coming to an end. In its place will be the rounder, richer, more approachable 2002.
Tionio Crianza 2004 (Ribera del Duero) £21.95
This austere, grippy savoury Tinto Fino (aka Tempranillo), continues to please those in search of intense, broody flavours and big tannins. Partner, in Castilian style, with flavoursome meat dishes, chorizo, jamon, or major cheese!
Pago de Carraovejas Crianza 2004 (Riber del Duero) £29.95
Top of the tree, we've again managed to secure a limited annual quota of this much sought-after classic. Up again in price, as happens each vintage, this simply reflects the impossible demand for this tasty, top-notch fusion of (75%) Tinto Fino and (25%) Cabernet; and you will not be disappointed. As ever, high-tone, elegant black fruit goes hand-in-hand with deliciously fragrant oak.
